The darkest night of the year

This year’s been very, very dark. It started out at twilight and has since progressed to absolutely inky. Death, despair and need are everywhere I look. And now, this darkest of times presses close, threatening to snuff out the tiny spark of Light we all keep close to our hearts, that hope that things will be better.

And we wait, holding our breath, for the earth to turn, and the season to change, and to be able to exhale one giant sigh of relief as the Light returns. May it bring good cheer and joy and love to all that need it, and a quiet sense of calm to the rest.
